What are the chances that you’re driving down Abu Dhabi Corniche and witness an electric blue car shaking to every pebble in its way? What are the chances that the same car is now trying to slide sideways over a speed bump at what seems to be negative kilometers an hour? If you have ever seen that unforgettable wide 86, that’s Mahmoud Moustafa, an adventurous banker who is one of the very few to embrace the low life.
The Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ community in UAE is quickly adopting the whole wide-body scene and adding flair in all the right ways. In the case of Mahmoud, he was fixated on the 86 as soon as it released in UAE. Just the idea of owning one kept him up at night (and also his late-night working hours). After he bought one soon later, he was sure he would not go wide despite seeing numerous wide body kits releasing for the car, including Rocket Bunny V1 and the Rocket Bunny V2.
He was extremely content with his ride, until he saw the Rocket Bunny V3. At this point, he had to decide whether to stick with form or function, since it was his daily ride. Humans being humans, Mahmoud slapped a V3 kit in no time, coupled with 18 inch Work Wheels with 9.5 in the front and 10.5 in the rear.
Soon later, he found himself spending hours and hours researching for the ideal color since the plain old white paint just didn’t do justice to the car. Despite a lengthy research, he just did not feel that any of the mainstream colors were his type until he discovered the Pepsi Blue. When asked about the suspension, he said he was running static and does not want to bag the car like the others. He certainly did his homework, and with the right approach, he did not need them anyway.
Mahmoud’s GT86 might not be screaming as many other cars we see internationally, but it definitely breaks necks. It’s a live example that, even in Speed Bump City, a wide body car with a forgiving drop can be used for your daily commute.
